Latest Updates

This is a reminder that this will be the last opportunity to comment to Forest Heath District Council over the proposed increase in operating hours.  (Consultation ends March 22nd  2017).

The planning application would result in an increase in disturbing noise from approximately 600 hours per year to 1700 hours per year, clearly a massive increase.

The circuit operator was asked to provide a noise assessment report. However, instead of measuring actual noise levels at locations where people live they have commissioned an agency to try and simulate noise levels using computer software modeling. ‘Quality of noise is also an issue. 50 decibels of birdsong being more desirable than 50 decibels of motorbike ‘buzzing’

Their results have been summed up as having a 'negligible' impact.

The skewed conclusions have failed to take into account the long hours of tedious, wearying, buzzing engine noise. If passed by the Council, the new scheme would result in approximately 8-9 hours of unbroken disturbance in the marina, village and surrounding areas on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and more importantly on every Saturday and Sunday throughout the year. The current 1 hour lunch break will be removed, so there will be absolutely no respite at midday.

Comments should be made online via the Forest Heath District Council website

Go to the Planning section and search for ‘motocross’ to see F/2001/768 (currently holding over 70 documents). The latest reports were added on 2nd March.

The noise report is called Env statement - chapter 5 noise.   Click ‘comments’ tab to submit your views/objections.

New users will have register.

Alternatively, email or write to -

G. Hancox, Planning Dept, Forest Heath District Council, District Offices College Heath Road, Mildenhall, IP28 7EY.

The Planning Committee will take the new Noise Report as ‘evidence’ that residents will not be affected, so even if you have previously commented, please take the time to do so again. This is the last chance to have your say before a Council decision is made.

Closing date for comments/ objections is March 22nd 2017.

Yours Faithfully,
